Our first giving circle was founded by Leslie DeVore in Henderson,Nevada in 2007 and started out as a simple meeting between friends who wanted to do more for the community by giving back in some way.

Leslie's idea was simple: "Let's meet once a month, determine a donation amount, and assign someone within the group to pick a charity of their choice to help?" The idea ignited their hearts and it didn't take long for the "giving spirit" to catch on. Leslie and her friends started the very first giving circle in Green Valley/Henderson called GiVe.

We are a group of 10-12 women who care about our community. We meet monthly to make a donation chosen by one member. We each agree to give $50 a month, though occasionally someone chooses to give more.

Our mission is to inspire, educate and encourage women to take an active role in the community by pooling their charitable gifts to improve the lives of Henderson residents in a grassroots way.

The kids of TEEN MD (short for Teens Making a Difference) have fun making the world a better place.  We've been getting together for nearly every month for the last six years to lend a hand to someone in need.  Over the years, we have volunteered for dozens of organizations: Boys and Girls Club of Henderson, Catholic Charities, Goodie Two Shoes, Ronald McDonald House, Tonopah Community Garden – the list is long.

We started in 2010 with a few seventh grade kids.  A mix of boys and girls, who had grown up together and were good friends.  Our Moms were in a giving circle and wanted to encourage us to do something like their group, and we decided that even though we didn't have money, we could offer our time.  Each of us takes a month and decides what the group is going to do.  We tend to gravitate towards causes that resonate with us.  The best thing is that we love getting together so in general, showing up is never really a problem.  It's never a "shame on you" thing.  It's more, "Oh, we missed you".

Most of us have recently finished high school and will soon head off to college.  The plan is for another generation to take the baton and keep it going.  Leading the effort are the mother and younger brother of one senior member.

One thing is for sure.  The impact of what we have has opened our eyes and will last for years to come.

Mission:

Coronado Women Who Wine is a charitable social group built on the foundation of making a difference in our community and the world around us while fostering friendships and developing meaningful relationships.

Description:

The Coronado Women Who Wine is comprised of a wonderful, growing group of women who are passionate about giving back and raising money for charities that are dear to our members' hearts.

Our meetings are held each month, usually on a Thursday night from 6:30-8:30 pm.

Attendance and donations are strictly voluntary, but are encouraged, in keeping with our mission of giving back and friendship. Each month, a different member volunteers to host a meeting in her home, and that hostess chooses the charity which she'd like to support.

The hostess provides information about her chosen charity, and a representative from the charitable organization will often attend and speak at our meeting.

Members bring CHECKS for donation. We have a 'no cash' policy for simplicity and accounting purposes.

The hostess of the event generally provides a main dish, while attending members bring a bottle of wine and side dish or dessert.

We leave the structure of each meeting up to the hostess, but our meetings are always casual, often deeply moving and are FUN!
